Welcome to Jacket’s Required, hello, I’m Dominic Lacquaniti, designer and tailor.
This week’s episode of Jackets required TV is for the teens. How do you look your best and be the Stand-Out at prom?
First you do NOT wear a cummerbund.
If you want to stay somewhat traditional and still rock a tux, then think about changing up the color, it will show you have style. Try for a nice navy really modernizes the look.
Get a nice flat front pant, stay away from pleats.
Don’t be afraid to rebel against the black tie standard – wear a regular tie or have some fun with a customized bow tie.
If you’re liking the idea of being different, then ditch the tux all together and go for a nice custom, modern suit. You’ll look light years ahead of your buddies when it comes to creating your own style.
The key to any choice you make, as I’ve always said, is going to be the FIT. The crowd in the rentals will be poorly fit, truth of the matter… with incorrect pant breaks and lengths well, because it’s a RENTAL.
One last piece of advice – DO sweat the small stuff. Killer cufflinks, a pocket square that compliments your dates dress, a stunning corsage, a great cologne – these are the little things that make a big difference and it IS YOUR “big night!”
Have fun and please stay safe out there!
Share with your stylish, and style-challenged friends, and be sure to let me know if you have a specific question or topic you’d like to see in the series.
Thanks for watching. See you next week. Remember, looking good is between you and your tailor…
