This week I’m going to talk to you about a few key accessories to help you build upon a solid fashionable foundation.
There are countless accessories that speak volumes about a man – hats, time pieces, sunglasses, shoes – I could go on and on, but for this episode I am going to focus on cufflinks and pocket squares.
If a man owns shirts with French Cuffs then they have to use cufflinks. The quantity and variety of cufflinks is more determined by the person wearing them then by how many shirts they own that require them.
I suggest you start off with two to three cufflinks that are basic, simple and timeless. Plain silver or gold is a good way to go as they are conservative and won’t draw a ton of attention yet they will still leave a positive impression.
Cuff knots are another option here as well. To start simple, go with solid colors.
Once you have 2 to 3 pairs of each then you can branch out into more fun or extravagant options.
A tasteful pocket square tucked into a suit jackets breast pocket can add a pop of color to any suit. For each suit you should own 3 pockets squares, especially if you are just getting started with your wardrobe. You should own silk and solid cotton pocket squares.
Beyond that – the tastefulness of your choices will reflect your personality so have some fun! It’s a wonderful way to freshen up a look or to create a dramatic accent.
Both of these items make wonderful gifts and the choices are as plentiful as your imagination… Plus as a gift, they beat the Ugly Christmas Sweater 365 days a year!
Share with your stylish, and style-challenged friends, and be sure to let me know if you have a specific question or topic you’d like to see in the series.
Thanks for watching. See you next week.
