Welcome to Jacket’s Required, hello, I’m Dominic Lacquaniti, designer and tailor.
This week’s episode of Jackets required TV is about Suit Style Icons.
I’m sure that as soon as I said that images started popping to mind.
I wanted to touch on this topic because in our casual, modern world, where everything is “the quicker and easier the better,” some things haven’t changed for decades. One of those things is a quality suit for creating a signature style.
Now let’s compare lists!
Topping my list of suit style icons would have to be Frank Sinatra. A suit and hat slightly cocked to one side made up his signature look. Can’t you just picture his blue eyes twinkling from under the brim? That’s an image that countless hearts beat to.
Next up – the classic gentlemen – Cary Grant. He is synonymous with suit style. It is hard, if not impossible, to imagine him without a suit, crisp white shirt and tie. He personifies why the suit is, and always will be, a classic.
If you’re talking style and ‘super secret agent suits’ then you must be thinking of James Bond! Regardless of the actor portraying the handsome spy, the suits have always been absolutely outstanding.
With a star stacked list including Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig… it’s no wonder the suits HAD to be stellar for these secret agents.
While I won’t equip your suit with weapons there are a lot of custom touches we can add to make you feel like you’re on par with these guys – at least in the cool clothing department.
And the best suit line in a movie has to go to Men in Black – “Are you ready to put on the last suit you’ll ever wear?”
When it looks as good as those MIB suits do – yes, the answer should always be yes.
A well-made suit is the ultimate classic. It’s timeless. At Rocco’s we will be ore than happy to create your own custom suit style, with personal touches that will surely make your attire memorable.
Share with your stylish, and style-challenged friends, and be sure to let me know if you have a specific question or topic you’d like to see in the series.
Thanks for watching. See you next week. Remember, looking good is between you and your tailor…
